Teveshan Kuni and Luke Andrews represented the Forum at an IDAHOBIT event hosted by the Embassy of Belgium, the representation of Flanders, and the Belgium Chamber of Commerce in South Africa. The seminar explored the importance of creating safe and inclusive work environments, and how that assists companies and institutions become more sustainable and competitive. The key take-away was that caring for the needs of your work force can help you outperform your peers!

The event was also a great opportunity to showcase the e-learning project run by Çavaria and supported by the Forum. We were also able to introduce SAWEI 2021 and its objectives.

The seminar was opened by the H.E. Didier Vanderhasselt, Ambassador of Belgium to South Africa, who highlighted the importance of LGBT inclusion and the continued discriminated faced by many in the workplace. The discussion was faciltiated by Mr Simphiwe Mabhele, Technical Advisor HIV/AID for ILO Pretoria. The engaging discussion was in a hybrid Zoom / in-person format with presenters based in Belgium, the United Kingdom and South Africa.
