SAWEI 2027
SAWEI is an independently assessed benchmark that helps participating organisations understand where LGBT+ inclusion infrastructure is established, where evidence is available and where further development may be required. The 2027 cycle is the first improvement checkpoint within the 2025 to 2030 accreditation period.
2027 cycle
Register the organisation’s interest and identify the primary contact.
Registered organisations can begin the evidence-based entry.
Organisations may enter at any point before the cycle closes.
Submitted evidence moves into the independent audit process.
Why participate
Understand which inclusion structures and practices are already in place.
Identify where evidence sits across HR, legal, transformation, ERGs, benefits, procurement, customer systems and leadership.
Identify the points where employees or customers cannot engage with a system as designed.
Use the cycle as a structured checkpoint within the 2025 to 2030 accreditation period.
Strengthen the evidence base for LGBT+ workplace inclusion in South Africa.
Who can coordinate
An entry may be coordinated by an authorised employee in HR, transformation, DEIB, an LGBT+ employee network, legal, compliance or another relevant function. A dedicated DEIB role is not required. The submission lead must be able to convene the people who hold the organisation’s evidence and secure the required internal approvals.
How it works
Register the organisation’s interest and identify the primary contact.
Receive the participation brief and confirm the appropriate next step.
Identify the submission lead, executive sponsor and internal evidence owners.
Access the submission portal from 1 September 2026 and begin the evidence-based entry.
Complete the entry before the cycle closes on 31 December 2026.
Independent auditing begins on 4 January 2027.
A developmental process
SAWEI is designed to establish a baseline, recognise evidence and support continuous improvement. Organisations that participated previously, paused, withdrew or are entering for the first time are invited to register when ready.
